What Is An Intern?
A licensed professional counselor intern (LPC-intern) is someone who has completed an undergraduate degree and a master's degree in counseling, psychology, or a related field, has passed the Texas State Board of Examiners Licensing Exam for Licensed Professional Counselors, and receives weekly supervision and case consultation from a licensed professional counselor supervisor (LPC-S).
A graduate intern counselor is someone who has completed an undergraduate degree in psychology, social work, or a related field, and is currently completing a practicum as part of the requirements for a master's degree in counseling.
SoulCare Counseling is an out of network provider for most insurance companies. We do not directly accept insurance as payment, however we will give you a receipt for services, which you may file with your insurance company for out of network reimbursement.
Please be aware that in some cases, using your insurance may actually cost you more than paying for services up front. For instance, if you pay $100 for a therapy session to an out of network provider, and your insurance will reimburse you 80% for that out of pocket expense, you only pay $20. But if you go to an in network provider and your co-pay is $30 to use an in network provider, then you have actually spent more money using an in network provider than an out of network provider.
Even though insurance companies may no longer deny you coverage, they can increase your insurance rates when you actually use your insurance. So while it may seem financially smart to use your insurance for mental health services, it will cost you more in the future when your insurance company increases your rates.
For additional reasons why using insurance to pay for mental health services may be to your disadvantage, please go the the Common Questions page.
Cash, check and all major credit cards accepted for payment.
An initial thirty minute consultation is required of all clients before the first appointment is scheduled. This thirty minute consultation is free. At the end of the consultation, payment will be made for the first counseling session, and at the end of each session, payment will be made for the next scheduled session.
If you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment and you have not notified us at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session.
